Patterns, Patterns, Patterns!!

I spent the last couple of days writing instructions for one of my patterns. Yay! My Wild West pattern will be  ready real soon. My sister in law, Marni, is going to test it for me and my sister, Helen from HGMR Deco Quilting, is proofing it for me. Between these two I'm sure to have a great pattern ready soon!

I loved how my nativity stockings turned out and I am working on "tweeking my stocking patterns and writing instructions. So much FUN!!

If you've taken a peek at my some of my quilts here on my blog, you've probably noticed that I love flowers....in particular, bright flowers. Well, Jenny, Helen and I have another sister. She's the big sis! Her name is Faith and just as full of talent!! She has always loved bright, beautiful colors so this quilt was so fun to make for her. I gave this cheery quilt to her this past Christmas and she loves it!

GEM OF THE DAY

A little follow up on my thoughts about trials.

I love this poem for a couple of reasons. It has brought me a lot of comfort and is inspiring and encouraging! And, like a weaving, the dark and bright colors in a quilt are ALL vital to its beauty!

My Life is But a Weaving

My life is but a weaving between my God and me
I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily
Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper and I the underside
Not til the loom is silent and shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reasons why
The dark threads are as needed in the skillful weaver's hand
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern he has planned.

  4. I love your rag quilts! Are they all flannel? Can a rag quilt be made out of regular quilters cotton? I have never tried one, but they look so cozy...

    1. Thanks! They are actually made from homespun. I've found that I really like the homespun best for my rag quilts. My sister Jenny thinks I should try one made from flannel so I probably will try it to see how I like it. I will let you know. :)
