Patterns, Patterns, Patterns!!

I spent the last couple of days writing instructions for one of my patterns. Yay! My Wild West pattern will be  ready real soon. My sister in law, Marni, is going to test it for me and my sister, Helen from HGMR Deco Quilting, is proofing it for me. Between these two I'm sure to have a great pattern ready soon!

I loved how my nativity stockings turned out and I am working on "tweeking my stocking patterns and writing instructions. So much FUN!!

If you've taken a peek at my some of my quilts here on my blog, you've probably noticed that I love flowers....in particular, bright flowers. Well, Jenny, Helen and I have another sister. She's the big sis! Her name is Faith and just as full of talent!! She has always loved bright, beautiful colors so this quilt was so fun to make for her. I gave this cheery quilt to her this past Christmas and she loves it!

GEM OF THE DAY

A little follow up on my thoughts about trials.

I love this poem for a couple of reasons. It has brought me a lot of comfort and is inspiring and encouraging! And, like a weaving, the dark and bright colors in a quilt are ALL vital to its beauty!

My Life is But a Weaving

My life is but a weaving between my God and me
I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily
Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper and I the underside
Not til the loom is silent and shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reasons why
The dark threads are as needed in the skillful weaver's hand
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern he has planned.

And The Stockings Were Hung From The Chimney With Care!

I'm pretty happy with how my stockings turned out!  I'm going to be working on "tweaking" my patterns this week and writing up instructions. Hopefully these patterns will be available soon for anyone who is interested.  :) And, my Wild West Quilt pattern will also be available soon.

Here's a closer look at each stocking. For fun I put our nicknames on our stockings. I feel the need to shake things up every once in while. Yup, that's about as wild as I get! Haha!! :)

And, here is a picture of my Wild West quilt. This pattern will be available soon! :)

Gem of the Day

Teaching seminary every morning to a handful of high schoolers is such a blessing in my life. This opportunity forces me to study the scriptures and ponder about the teachings that are in them. Today's gospel gem is a powerful message.
"Earthly trials are nothing compared to the eternal glory awaiting the faithful" This thought comes from
 2 Corinthians 5:15-18

Sometimes we do get bogged down with the trials of life. If we can just keep an eternal perspective we can get through these earthly challenges and remember they won't last forever. We do have better things waiting for us!

There ya go! :)

Boys Love Quilts Too!!!

A few of my new followers expressed an interest in some patterns for a boy quilt! Well.... I have them!! I actually have made many more quilts than what I have posted so far. I will post pictures of my other quilts frequently and promise to get my patterns and instructions ready to share with everyone! :)

I've made several of these baby quilts for friends and family. They are ALL boy and my favorite feature....SOOOO cuddily! :) They often times become "the favorite" blankie! :)

This one was for my friends who are big BYU fans so of course they had to have a BYU Sports blanket. I made this in a hurry and hadn't come up with a great soccer ball but as you'll see in the next two picture. I have come up with a GREAT soccer ball! :)

This is a great generic boy baby quilt to make ahead of time to have ready to give as a gift at the last minute if need be! See... told you I came up with a great soccer ball! :)

This one was for my friends grandson who LOVES the Gators! Go Gators!!

And OF COURSE sports quilts are for girls too!! :)

Made this for my good friend Danielle who kids were in sports and cheer leading and has been involved with city and school sports for years. ALL the youth love this woman!

And then finally.... what little boy doesn't LOVE tractors, and cowboy stuff! I made this for a friend who lived on the Deseret Ranch with us in Florida. This is the Deseret brand.

So there you have it!! Lots of quilts screaming BOY! :) and SO SO CUDDILY!

I try to take a break on Sundays from sewing but will be right back at it tomorrow to try and finish up those nativity stockings. Can't wait to see how they turn out. I will for sure post more pictures of them!

So usually on Sunday I like to post a "Sew much more" post on my blog. This usually has to do with my faith or family or anything else happening in my life.

The theme for our Sacrament meeting today at church was "I am a Child of God". One of the speakers in church today had a greatt thought regarding our spiritual genealogy. She gave credit for this thought to John Bytheway (a guy who is well known in our church and who I dated in college "by the way" haha,) Anyway, she went on to talk about our earthly genealogy which, if traced back, we end up with many many individuals linking us back to Adam. Yes, this wasn't anything new. But the thought that struck me as Wow and Awesome ...was when she said our genealogy of our spirit is just one step. Us and our Heavenly Father. Of course I knew this but had never heard it explained in this way. Just another reminder that we truly our children of our Heavenly Father.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of these quilts. I'm looking forward to a week full of teaching seminary, quilting, and getting patterns and instructions ready for beautiful and talented quilters consumption! ;)

SNEAKY SISTER!!!

My sister, Jenny Pedigo from Sew Kind of Wonderful, is sure a sneaky gal!! I woke up this morning to such a pleasant surprise. She sent many fabulous quilters my way! I'm so grateful and excited to share my quilting adventures with so many talented women! Jenny and Helen have been so inspiring for me and I know they have been for you too. I'm excited for the lucky quilter who wins a QCR and one of her beautiful patterns. "May the odds be forever in your favor!!" ;D

With so many new followers, I'm definitely a little more motivated to get my patterns ready to sell. Stay tuned and visit my blog often. I will keep you posted with information concerning my patterns.

I've had so much fun creating these Nativity Christmas stockings. I'm thrilled with how they are turning out so far. They are really fun to make as well!

They haven't been washed, dried and "ragged" yet so come back to see how these stockings turn out once they are completed. I'm always a little surprised myself! haha

Two more to go. Shepherd and Wiseman. Stay tuned!! :)

Again, I'm so excited to have so many new followers. I hope you enjoy your time spent here. Also, I'm very excited to check out many of your blogs! I LOVE seeing new talent and creativity!!

January Christmas Projects. Perfect!!

It seems like every year I want to start or finish Christmas projects I've been wanting to make or need to finish and every year I think about it too late. Before I know it Christmas has come and gone and life was just to crazy to get those projects accomplished. Well I've finally decided January is the perfect month to finish and begin those desired Christmas projects. They're still fresh on my mind and I'm still excited about them. I've had this idea for Nativity Christmas stockings but didn't know how they were going to turn out until today. I love how ideas evolve into finished projects. So far I'm really excited about these stockings.

Joseph is complete and Mary is just about finished. Just need to attach the back. I will hopefully post baby Jesus tomorrow. They have been really fun to make and it's a nice little break from the quilts.

Personal Progress Quilt

It's Finished and I LOVE it!!

I've been wanting to make a Personal Progress Quilt for a while now. I thought it would be a fun incentive for Young Women in my life to get their Personal Progress completed, and I thought they would sell well. I'm also working on instructions for my quilts and will sell the patterns and instructions.

I started out with one idea for this quilt then quickly changed it after Laura's quilt design... realizing that her design would work even better for my PP Quilt. And it did!

I'm really excited with how it turned out. I love the chunky colorful flowers and the words turned out better than I anticipated. They can be a little tricky with all the tight corners and curves.....
But..... Where there's a will, there's a way. Did it!! :)

Here's a quick review from start to finish.

Excited about my next adventure. Nativity Christmas stockings. Working on patterns today. Stay tuned!

Big Chunky Flowers! Love!

Still feeling BLAH!! :-( But, I figured I could feel just as rotten sitting at my sewing machine as I could sitting in my lazy boy!  Really happy with the progress so far. It's going to be a little tricky getting all my words to fit but.... where there's a will there's way!! :)

Progress on Personal Progress Quilt!

I really like how "integrity" turned out. Even better than I anticipated! Yay! And, I love the big bulky flowers with the Personal Progress colors. Looking forward to seeing how they all turn out!

Time to get healthy and loose that extra "Christmas Bulk"!

A few healthy snacks that satisfy my cravings!

Guacamole (2 avocado, 1/2 lime, salt) use as a dip for fresh veggies. Yum!

And.... gotta have a little chocolate, just switching to healthier chocolate... a couple squares a day. Perfect. and some real cheese takes care of some cravings as well. We'll see how long this lasts! ;)

Looking Forward to my next Quilt!!

Rocky Mountain Fans Will Especially Love This One!

I made this next quilt for my Aunt Mary Ann Hearn
This is definitely a personalized quilt! Everything she loves!! It was so fun to make and I love the colors of this quilt!
My mother was giving it to her for her birthday.... so she helped me decide what to put on it. We both decided that she definitely needed a computer because she is a computer wiz! And we wanted to somehow include her grandchildren as part of the quilt so what better way than a message from her grandchildren on the computer! :)
And of course we had to include her little yorkie.... Skoshi! Woman's best friend! :)
